If 3/37M with deferrals is correct, then that amounts to about 10-11M per year. If we need to dump salary to resign Manny/Tillman, then getting rid of Trumbo and 2/22M or O'Day and 2/18M are not going to be an issue.

At the price, it's hard to argue, though I was warming to saving money and going with Carter instead. Trumbo provides good value as long as they DH him and don't let him sniff a glove except in emergencies or the occasional left-hander. He's a popular guy in the clubhouse and I heard it would have been tough to lose both him and Wieters out of the clubhouse.

DD doesn't care beyond 2018, if he did Manny would have been extended last  year or the year before when he was trying to get hired by Toronto.
