You cannot burn O'Day or Givens in the 5th inning of a close game. If it's close in the 5th the odds are it is also going be close in the 6th 7th 8th and 9th. That's a lot of outs to get if you have already used one of your bullets.

I'd get up a big arm instead of Wilson sure.  I don't want Wilson coming in with men on.

Why can't you?

Burn one of those guys in the 5th and let someone like Wilson come in to start the sixth clean, instead of with runners on.

This isn't complicated.

Not sure you have much choice.Starters with big leads have to get six innings.
