No, def not a slam dunk. And yes, I corrected the post - I just think they're similar players right now and Mayo's a lot younger. -
Kjerstad is 3 years older. I think there’s a chance that Mayo is better in the long run but it’s certainly no slam dunk as far as I’m concerned. Now, if Mayo was a decent 3B I’d be more inclined to give the significant edge to him but that doesn’t seem likely on this team unless Elias likes my ideas which seems even less likely. -
Seems like a lot of posters think Hays is done as a productive MLB player, so I’m asking posters to go on record with how he’ll do for the rest of 2024. For purposes of my question, performance year to date won’t be included. For convenience, here are Hays’ pages from BB-Ref and Baseball Savant. He’s 28 years old, and has a career OPS of .740 (.769, .719 and .769 in 2021-23). Last year, he slumped in the second half, posting a .667 OPS after the all star break. This year, he had a .539 OPS in 35 PA in spring training and then a .311 OPS in 50 PA prior to going on the IL. His batted ball data has been awful. So what do you say? Washed up? Small sample size fluke? Illness? What will Hays do when he returns? -
Looks like he had 30 pitches that were fouled off. I don't really have any reference if that is high or low, but sounds high to me. -
Ugh. Stupid BBref site sorts different than I expected. I didn't see that he played there last year, and clearly forgot. -

Key word being "significantly." I would say his strike zone discipline is at worst on par with Kjerstad's right now and he's like 3 years younger. I'd say he's got a pretty good shot at being better than Kjerstad. Correction: 3 years younger. The point remains, he's a lot younger and pretty advanced. -
As your post illustrates, Lofton played in an entirely different offensive era too. Expectations for Bradfield need to be in the context of today's game.
