So the winning run scores from first base on a single to center that Rasmus is slow to get to, and than kicks around for an error.

The top priority for this franchise should be a couple plus defender OF'ers, one a pure Center Fielder

They have Mullins and Stewart who are ready to be brought up. I am not sure why Rasmus is still on the roster and Mancini is still playing in the outfield.

Stewart is not a plus defender, he is yet another DH, I hear Mullins is fast, but I also hear his arm is week

We need a Kevin Pillar, Kevin Kiermaier type CF'er.

Stewart is not a DH, don't let the body type fool you.  I don't know how well he will age but he should at least be a league average LF for a few years which is a vast improvement over what we have now.

Could that be McKenna?

Stewart will be an above average LF, and league average RF for the first few years of his MLB career.  As he ages, who knows.

Kiermaier is hitting .160 with Tampa so I bet we could probably get him and he'd fit right in.

I disagree, have you seen him throw a baseball? and he is already 25 in November. He has been 2-3 years older than true prospects at every level that he has played.

Another day, another game lost by putrid defense

Danny Valencia fails to catch a fly ball that lands at the base of the wall in RF, and then Tim Beckham fails to convert a tailor made DP ball.

Danny Valencia is a DH, and Tim Beckham doesn't belong on a ML 25 man roster.

There it is your 2018 Baltimore Orioles

Wow, how much is that worth to a team?

Statcast says that it's a hit 64% of the time.  Since that ball is almost always going to be a HR if it's a hit, you can safely say that it's got the run value of a HR, which is around 1.6.  So take .64 * 1.6 and you get its run value.  Or about 1 run saved.  I don't believe defense considers "replacement level" so you can pretty much take that as the run value.  Pretty good for a single defensive play.  You'd be hard-pressed to find a play worth more to be honest.

We need defensive help everywhere.  We have 4 players that are currently producing above-average numbers defensively.  2 of them are not on the 25 man.  The other two are Craig Gentry (a legit defender at all OF positions, not killing us with the bat) and Caleb Joseph (accrues value for pitch framing, which is of dubious value depending on who you ask; all defensive value is washed away by the fact that he can't hit his way out of a paper bag.)

I've seen him throw a baseball.  You. I mean for real. In person. Not reading some blog or watching at 480p.
