I like this kid a lot.  I believe he can become a steady 3B with a good bat.  I think he's an asset.  He's exactly what we need to be looking for and why I'm enjoying the team more now than I have in recent past.

He might develop into a cheap DH if they can get rid of Trumbo next year. I'm not optimistic about the defense developing.

I'm sorry, but I'm not really seeing what's so unusual about 7 walks in 76 plate appearances.  What am I missing?

It's not the fact he has 7 in 76, its that Jones had a little more than double that total in nearly 6 times as many at bats.

To have bench guys like Nunez and Peterson be able to get up and grind at-bats like that is great, especially late-inning defensive replacement players.  Gentry was also someone good at that.  Too bad we don't have a competing bunch to use that to our advantage.

Will be interesting to see how this guy turns out. Seems like a nice pick up for where we're at. Decent pedigree as a prospect, decent hit potential and passable at 3B at the moment. Still only 24. What's not to like considering we picked him up off the scrap heap?

That's much more a negative for Jones than a positive for Nunez.

Put it this way; there's no harm in seeing how he does for the rest of the season, but hopefully we don't build a team by shopping often at the scrap heap.

This is where I am on Nunez. I like him well enough to play the next year or two and show whether he can be something or not. He'll have a chance until Mountcastle can push his way up (if he can stay at 3B). From there, we will have an idea of whether Nunez can be a useable piece for the future.
