Often I'm not sure when I see a play like that in real time whether the umpire got it right. But recently there seem to be a lot of plays at first  base where it's pretty obvious that the ump gets it wrong. These guys are supposed to be at the top of their profession, and they have one job to do. Yet they do it pretty poorly, and it feels like they're getting worse.

I wonder if knowing that replay will fix any mistakes takes off some pressure and they don't put as much effort into their craft anymore?
