I think they would be higher, but not high enough.

Yes I don't think Jones or McGregor would have been successful starting pitchers in this era.

Maybe bullpen guys, not starters.

And Wells probably throws harder than either of them, right?  I’m just hoping he has a shot.  Would be fun to watch a pitcher like that succeed today.

I'm hoping he does well.

But I personally wouldn't bring up Jones or McGregor as comps when they pitched over thirty years ago.

Not a surprise in the sense that it is the right move, but it might be a little bit surprising that they actually did the right move. The times they are a changing’...

Right.  It’s fine that you are keeping him right now because of covid...and perhaps, depending on how things go, you end up keeping him on the active roster for a little while to see if the season gets canceled, although I think that is highly unlikely.

At this point, the plan should be to keep him up until you know when the season starts and then you cut him.
