The same Reese McGuire who whipped his junk out in a parked car during ST?

It isn’t yet clear how this matter will progress from a criminal perspective and with regard to the team and league. McGuire was charged with “exposure of sexual organs;” it seems the illicit action occurred inside a vehicle parked in a retail parking lot. Further alleged facts aren’t yet known.

wildcard, if you don't mind that kind of behavior, that's cool.  I don't particularly want someone like that around our impressionable youngsters.

Yeah, he was playing with his Reese’s Pieces during camp.

Was he convicted?

Either way, I did a little research on him as a player and I'm not sure he helps out. He seems like a slow bat, low EV guy who struggles to hit fastballs. Defensively he's not great at throwing out runners but seems to be an average framer which is better than Severino or Sisco.

His actual production up until last season small sample size has always outperformed his expected production. Now he could be the Hanser Alberto of catchers, but at first look, I'm not sure he's an upgrade over Severibo and/or Sisco which is not a high bar to cross.

You can ask that question all you want, it seems like Reese's Pieces knew what he was doing:

"I've realized that I made a mistake having my pants down and doing what I was doing," he said. "And if there's any way I can really learn from it and hopefully no one's harmed. ... I really am apologetic. And I know I shouldn't have been doing this."

McGuire later pleaded nolo contendere to a reduced charge and only had to pay a fine and court costs, per TMZ Sports.

Ultimately, I agree, I don't see that he's a big upgrade.  His offense did fall off a cliff in 2020, maybe he had blisters on his hands or something.

I don't see that as criminal.  He didn't expose himself on purpose.  He took responsibility for his actions, apologized and paid a $500 fine.  It embarrassing but I think he learned his lesson.  I would be alright with him joining the team if he is an upgrade over Sisco as a catcher offensively and defensively.

I don't see it as the end of the world either. Dumb, but if he was an upgrade, I'd take him on the team.

Hopefully it’s not indicative of a bigger problem.   It’s a pretty weird thing to do.

I don’t know that I see him as an upgrade to either of our two catchers.    I’ll leave that to Elias & co.

Left-handed hitter.

In the majors:

285/323/512/ 835  career in 123 AB vs righties

130/167/261/428 career in 46 AB vs Lefties

https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=mcguire01&year=Career&t=b

Looks like a guy that should be platooned.
