First look at Lowther

Liked what I saw.   All business and works fast.   The curve that was hit for a leadoff single was a hanger, but otherwise his locations were good and his FB/change is a nice combo.    Great to see him debut in a win and have a pretty smooth inning.

I really hope he has some staying power. They team could use a younger player that exceeds expectations.

Fun to watch. Didn't nibble, but didn't leave much in the middle of the zone either. Only about 5-6 mph difference between FB and changeup. Great that they could open up the score so he could get his feet wet right away. He looks like he's going to need sharp command of his pitches to be effective. But he didn't look intimidated at all. Was also nice to see McKenna in the 8th....that was a professional at bat.

Sat 91-93 with the fastball. I thought the scouting reports said lower than that.

Other than obviously Means, who has earned their spot.  Harvey and Zimmerman have been adequate.  Lowther deserves one of the other spots.  Is there a blank spot now that LeBlanc has been DFA'ed?

Not til López is gone. I’d much rather see Lowther or any of the other young SP on the 40 man roster than López in the rotation.

Stuff playing up in the pen.  Adrenaline for ML debut.  Both possible explanation.

I've read he's 89-94.  So sitting 91-93 sounds about right.

If Means dominates to the Allstar break would it make sense to trade him if we can get a return like Bedard got?

Bedard get Jones, Tillman, Flat Breezy,  Flat Breezy was flipped.  

If Means is 12-3 at the allstar break we should flip him.

I think his fastball was a little elevated, and I would hope to see more of a difference between fastball and changeup speeds. Probably just ML debut adrenaline.

Where’s Michael Baumann? I was expecting him along with Lowther and Akin, But I haven’t heard anything about him lately. He’s the guy I am really excited to see, after G-Rod and Hall
