You would be buying him out of pre-arb and arb years for like $27million a year. Sure, I’d try to marry him to the O’s for life but that kind of deal doesn’t really make sense. 

The Carroll deal (8 for $111million) and the Franco (11 for $182million) deal are good starting points. I see Gunnar being worth more than Carroll over the length of their careers and probably more than what Franco would have been. I’d see if something like 12 years at $180million could get it done.

All true, but he was exciting and became a household name. Jazz Chisholm didn’t make the cover because of his overwhelming talent. He was exciting and fun.

The only thing they really have in common is speed. De La Cruz is 21, while he's a below average hitter right now, he's going to have a nice career.

The comparison I'm drawing is that they are both "Exciting AT TIMES" and both "was exciting and fun."

They both also "fell off a cliff" after an amazing heater and have a high strike out rate.

Gunnar is the dude to back the truck up for.  We had one guy 10 years ago that they should have done it for and here we are again.  

I hope that ownership doesn't botch this one.
