Orioles acquire catcher, DFA Krehbiel

Sooo, tin foil hat-conspiracy theory time. ME has Stowers and Vavra up, Hyde plays Vavra AND Frazier in starts that should have gone to Stowers. So, ME sends Stowers down to get regular ABs. Vavra isn't producing, Stowers gets hot, ME sends Vavra down and promotes Stowers. Now Mav gets hurt and Hyde wants a 3rd catcher cutting ABs from Stowers and O'Hearn. Stowers gets a start in LF where he has limited experience rather than RF where he is a better option than Santander defensively. Hays (hot bat) sits while Santander (cold bat, poor defense) plays. Ergo: Hyde hates Stowers and is hoping for a DJS performance to cement his opinion. I am only half kidding!!!

I cannot stand how Elias and Hyde handle to major league roster. This makes as much sense as signing Frazier, trading for Aguliar and Phillips, and playing Odor everyday. Can't wait for the punt lineups against lefties that run out McCan, Mckenna, and this guy.

Stop obsessing over splits especially at small sample sizes. If you want a righty DH, then put Santander there and play Stowers. While you are at it, ditch Mckenna and bring up Cowser

It's amazing the record that this team has. The roster usage is weird at best.

Maybe the professional scouts and people running the player personnel for the team know more then a bunch of fans that don’t watch players of other teams often.  You can find thread after thread about people complaining about adding this guy or that guy but most the time they have been right.  Most people wanted Mateo released, didn’t like the decision to bring up Cano, said Gibson was worse the Lyles, wondered why they protected Bautista just as a few examples.

It seems a little strange, at this moment anyway. I’m trying not to overthink this. My first thought is that O’Hearn should go down, not that he has been bad at all. His profile doesn’t fit that well if Adley and McCann are going to DH often between catching games. I would think Stowers stays and provides a LH bat with solid defense in the OF corners.

The question for me then is how many at bats will Stowers get while they are trying to get Santander on track? I watched Hyde talk about Santander’s 16 pitch at bat last night, and how he lamented that Santander is “really grinding right now.” They could keep O’Hearn as a bench role LH bat, and Frazier can play OF corners moreso than O’Hearn. IDK.

I doubt Torrens is staying long term. Probably a guy they evaluate over a week or two and see what they have in him. See what his aptitude is and what they can fix.

I appreciate the lecture. I don't believe I was doubting them, just don't understand carrying 3 catchers on the ML roster. Most likely he's only on the 26 for a brief moment... still, just a weird use of 1 of 26.

With Handley being hurt, this moves keeps them from needing to also pull Bemboom for the taxi squad and really deplete Norfolk.

But he's not on the taxi squad, he's in the 26 man. So...who gets sent down and who will join the taxi squad?

I suspect this three-catcher situation will end quickly, similar to the last instance.

If it doesn't, we may see some of that McCann at 1b alignment that was foreshadowed in the spring?

Most likely, especially if Ryan O'hearn doesn't pick things up tonight.

Can someone verify this?

I doubt that's real. I haven't heard anything about it, and he's under team control for 5 more years. Something about that topic would not be this quiet of a story. And there's no way they are going to replace a burgeoning Franchise Star who has 5 years of team control with some random backup catcher they acquired for depth.

No one will join the taxi squad, as it is not a mandatory thing this season.

As far as who gets sent down? No idea. Could be an IL stint as well too for some one.
