Stowers, Vavra and McKenna

These guys started the season with the O's. Barring an injury, are they done? Will they see the major league roster for the Orioles again?

McKenna, maybe.  Vavra and Stowers no chance the rest of this year.

I'd say there's a chance we see Stowers if Cowser/Hicks are ineffective and he does well. But it's not likely that all those things happen.

I would be surprised to see Vavra. The other 2 are possibles, especially McKenna.

I think McKenna would be a great get for another team as a MLB ready OF.

 I don’t think we have seen the last of Stowers.  Great guy to have as ins. Policy for an injury.

When you starting working on catching and you already play IF & OF chances are your path to MLB has shrunk significantly.  I don’t think we ever see Vavra in Bmore again.

They are fantastic depth. This team is so deep. Glad to have them in AAA for now. Not much else to say about it!

McKenna, Vavra and Stowers in that order.  And there’s a big gap between McKenna and the rest.

This year pretty much only McKenna, but likely not until rosters expand. Ultimately, there’s definitely a role on this team for a RH bench OF and particularly once one if Santander/Hays are gone, but with Cowser able to play CF I think somebody with more bat (and consequently perhaps less defense) will be a better fit.

Beyond this year, I think Stowers is going to hang around as depth unless he is able to fetch a quality return in a trade. He’ll get another shot here during his option years eventually through injuries but won’t ever be penciled in as a starter unless he really earns it. 

Vavra I think is done in this org. The biggest problem is they never trusted his 2B defense, which makes him far less valuable as a bench piece. His bat never profiled well enough to play anywhere further down the defensive spectrum and he hasn’t done anything at the MLB level to change that. There’s too much IF depth that has surpassed him now. I think he’s headed for a DFA eventually if he’s not throw in as part of a larger deal.

I wish them all well and hope that they make it as Major Leaguers. But honestly, shouldn’t they all be done here? They are good enough to play here with the wealth of talent that we have on the Major League team and in the Minors.

We already have too many players and not enough places to fit/play them. Why would we add even more (mind inferior players) to the mix?

But just because they can’t make it here doesn’t mean that they can’t make it period.

Stowers could have a place in the future but it depends on what they do with Santander, OHearn and Hays.

I think Vavra understands his spot in the org, which was part of him starting to play some emergency catcher.  If he can do so at an adequate level, that's a lot of incremental value the big club could use.

McKenna is a guy we needed over 162 this year. But Cowser and Hicks being able to play CF made him irrelevant. He’s out of options next year. I think we deal him to a rebuilding club for a DSL lotto ticket this offseason.

All 3 could be small pieces in any trades we swing. Young, controllable, and probably talented enough to hold some spots during another teams rebuild
