No, he got no signal whatsoever. 3rd vase coach was looking at the lead running scoring at home plate when Hays was touching 3rd base. Since Hays never saw a signal, I guess he thought the ball was hit harder than it was and he just kept on running. 

The final result after the left feilder threw home to Kirk, was Hays tried to dodge the tag like a RB in Ravens training camp trying a jump cut. But he was out by a mile and he knew it too.

I'm at work, obviously didn't see the play.

But 9 times out of 10, with 2 outs and the runner going on contact, a runner with good speed (which Hays is), SHOULD be able to score on a hit to the outfield.    You don't see a fairly fast runner get thrown out in that situation very often, let alone by as much as Hays apparently was.
