Whoever the 3rd-base coach is, total lack of situational awareness. You have your best hitter coming up and the pitcher is on the ropes, with the bases loaded. These are the small things that make a big difference.

If Showalter was the deciding factor then I understand the need to include him in the trade for Flaherty.

Elias made the point that Flaherty should benefit from the quality of our defense and catchers. Seems like almost every pitcher that comes here shaves half a run off his ERA.

For all the Baltimore residents here, is Fells Point, like, the only area that matters?  Seems like anything halfway decent can be found in Fells.

No, he got no signal whatsoever. 3rd vase coach was looking at the lead running scoring at home plate when Hays was touching 3rd base. Since Hays never saw a signal, I guess he thought the ball was hit harder than it was and he just kept on running. 

The final result after the left feilder threw home to Kirk, was Hays tried to dodge the tag like a RB in Ravens training camp trying a jump cut. But he was out by a mile and he knew it too.

I'm at work, obviously didn't see the play.

But 9 times out of 10, with 2 outs and the runner going on contact, a runner with good speed (which Hays is), SHOULD be able to score on a hit to the outfield.    You don't see a fairly fast runner get thrown out in that situation very often, let alone by as much as Hays apparently was.
