Apparently he is also seeking extensions. The problem appears to be what many on this board were saying it likely was instead of a JA problem.

And that should put to rest that Elias is risk adverse and JA won’t extend players. It sucks that both are Boras clients.

Also, we’re going to start watching these Elias interviews more closely. He’s pretty honest. If only we had some local press that would ask him more questions.

Boras saying they are talking doesn't do much for me honestly.

Actually signing someone, that would do something for me.

It's easy to say we've been talking.

Do you think the O's are actually in daily contact with the Boras camp over extensions?  Or do you think Boras might be exaggerating?

The point is, the O’s apparently are not avoiding having such discussions.   Elias plays his cards close to the vest, so we weren’t going to hear from him whether any discussions had taken place.   Whether there’s been a realistic offer put on the table, that we’ll never know unless a deal happens.

Of course it's JA.  All this famed "interest" in all these players, yet the Orioles still have not signed anyone to a long term deal in a very long time.

Sure?

I guess it's cool they are at least talking.

But if it doesn't lead to anything than it was just a fart in the breeze.

I don't think it has anything to do with Boras. He is there to represent his clients' wishes. If they wanted to extend, he would pursue that.

If I were Holliday, Henderson, Adley, etc. I would hold off too. I would want to see that the Orioles are willing to spend money to acquire the players needed to stay competitive for a long period of time.

If i was a player i would take it to free agency if only because you dont want to be stuck on a cheap team with little payroll flexiblity to make the roster better.  I think i would want to see if elias can continue this run and if angelos doesnt blow things up

Didn't we talk to Manny and others before too? To me, this is about as nothingburger as it gets.

Like... let's see Mike make his first free agent signing that involves a guaranteed second year in the contract before we even entertain this kind of thing.
