I wouldn’t be surprised if Mountcastle went to Seattle ahead of the team.  They have a long flight to Seattle and having Vertigo they may have wanted him to break the trip up or not wanting him on late trip across country when your tired and want to sleep.

Where are you seeing that?

Once you have vertigo it always still there and can come back at anytime even with no real circumstances especially if it is chromic vertigo which it seems Mountcastle has as he has had a few episodes besides the main one in the last year.  I know he had some dizzying issues at least once this season after a trip which kept him out the first game of the series.

Still sick or is this vertigo again?  Hopefully he’s just got a bad cold or something like that.

Kirby does have some fairly strong splits this year (.565 OPS vs RH, .709 vs LH) and we have stacked the lineup with 7 lefty bats.

However Kirby's career splits are actually a bit reversed (.690 vs RH, .640 vs LH).

If he had vertigo, the last place they would want him is on a plane.

Yea that could be the case too.  Good point.

But 3 straight games now makes you think.

If he had vertigo I don't think they would have let him pinch hit.  Seems needlessly dangerous.

I had it once.  Brutal for a couple of days and still didn’t feel right for at least a month.   Had to miss the softball playoffs.   Lol

I have vertigo and when mine is triggered it's traumatic... a nightmare.  Not everyone with vertigo has the same experiences, but it can be debilitating.  Hopefully that's not the case with Ryan.

No Mountcastle again.   All we ever heard was when Hyde said, after the game Sunday night, that he was "under the weather".

It does seem like he’s got vertigo again, but don’t understand the need for secrecy if it is.

    • I think at this point its just semantics regarding what a successful deadline looked like.  Elias upgraded three positions - SP, 2 RP.  Could there have been bigger upgrades?  Sure, at a bigger cost.  I think it was sufficient.  What has killed the team is the hitting.  If this team had hit like its capable of, and Soto, Eflin, and Dominguez all pitched exactly as they have, we'd all be feeling a lot better about the team, and probably lauding Elias for those three pickups and what a great boost they were at the deadline.  But we aren't hitting - at all - and I don't know what he could have done at the deadline to fix that. Already agreed that the draft strategy must evolve. I don't agree it was a bad strategy to do what they did so far, but it does have to evolve, just as the organization as a whole has evolved.  And I think it will.
    • I don't mean this as any kind of personal slight toward you. Please do not take this as such. But people/fans showed how they felt about this team who has been a loser for almost 4 months. And largely continued to hedge (beyond the Eflin addition) at the deadline. I bet you who did not have a bunch of empty seats for their playoff game yesterday .... San Diego. IMO it is because of the effort that they put in to continue to engage the fanbase. You can't sell people on the "homegrown" stars idea and no need to add a lot of outside talent. And then some of those "homegrown stars" who were so hyped flop. And then not extend the ones who turn into stars. That communicates a lack of investment by the org. Now when you add that up in the economy/2024 inflation and combine that with all of the other entertainment choices that people have in 2024; things like this will happen. Empty seats during a playoff game = an unengaged/unexcited fan base. The org has to own much of this.
    • I’m getting Gunnar as many PA’s as possible.    Gunnar Westburg O’Hearn Santander Mullins Mountcastle Rutschman Cowser Urias
    • I agree with the idea of stacking lefties in the lineup but O'Hearn scares me at 1st.  One misplay on a ball in the dirt and that may be the game.   I am one also that wouldn't mind seeing Holiday in the lineup as the DH.  We need people to get on base and he started tapping into that ability at the end of the season.
    • Without looking, I bet your holiday was worse
    • Mullins should absolutely Lead Off Today. Keep westburg 2nd then Gunnar, Tony, O'hearn, Adley, Cowser, Kjerstad, Holliday. Try to jump these guys early.
