Holliday had an absolutely elite eye and plate discipline in the MiL. He walked as much as he struck out. We've seen that ML pitching can make "phenoms" in the minors look awful. I don't expect Mayo to walk in an kick the door down from the get-go. -

Elias has had that luxury up until this point. But in a few short years, he will not longer have such a luxury. If he decides "not to play" in the Adley and Gunnar pool, it will be to the peril of the business success of the franchise. People (beyond the diehard fans) come to see stars. I shutter to think about allowing both of them to walk in back to back years. OR even worse trading one or both away. Have you seen how many #2 and #35 shirts there are in the stands? These guys are going to be multiple all-star/silver slugger/gold glove winner type guys, who hopefully are a big part of a World Series winner or 2. Those are not the kind of guys that you say "pass" to "I'm not playing" when the time comes. -
There was a diving, foul ball catch in front of the 3rd base dugout by AR a few weeks ago...statcast gave it a high probability of catch number 80% ???? McKenna?? not an easy catch, but if your forte is defense, it should have been made. -
Mullins is 1 for 18 off Cortes. Might be a good time for a night off. Mateo or McKenna in CF. -

Don't know why this post got a "laugh". Mayo is a highly regarded, bat first prospect. There's a decent chance that he ends up being a better hitter in his career than Holliday, even if Holliday winds up being a better player overall due to his defensive value. -
I am not trying to go back and forth with you here, this is nothing personal. The points you make I just feel like there are counter arguments to why it does make sense for Norby to get a look right now, that's all. - He has 700? plate appearances at AAA, I think we are past worrying about developing. - This is a stacked lineup but there are still positions of the future that have not been locked down and there currently injuries opening spots for prospects to get opportunities. - Bringing Norby up and sending him down again does not hurt his prospect value (see Joey Ortiz) - Finding out now that Norby can hit big league pitching could make Elias more comfortable trading away a Urias or Hays at the deadline or sooner knowing Norby can slide in.
