.284/.330/.438 now, good for a 117 wRC+. Very impressive for a 19 year old C in AA.

After that rough start when his timing and pitch recognition were completely out of whack, seems like he’s back. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him go nuclear now like he did last year now that he’s adjusted to AA.

2 walks, 3 singles....what comes next.

He does need to level up to crack the window, but I still don't believe the Gunnar Henderson 2022 (47 Bowie, 65 Norfolk) life experience is impossible as of Memorial Day.     How big are those forks sticking out of certain veterans?     Elias' actions with a Norfolk bump or not if Basallo challenges for it come 4th of July will give some clues.

Same as in the Carolina League last year, it is enticing this hulking fellow is running strong in batting average...Marcelo Mayer and Robert Hassell are the only young-ish guys ahead of him.

Probably the most surprising thing in Basallo’s stat line is the .154 ISO, after posting a .238 ISO across three levels last year.  But that’s probably the part of his game I’m most confident about, so it hardly worries me.  Sooner or later he’ll go on a power rampage for a week or two.

There is no doubt the power is there as we saw a ton last year and in spurts this year. He's been just trying to get his legs under his in AA and now that's he's making better swing decisions, I believe we'll see that power spike this summer.

2-4 for his 8th homer yesterday.

OPS up to 785.

20 for his last 49 with 5 bbs.  3 homers in that span.

Average is up to 285.  OBP and slugging still lagging some but way up over the last few weeks.

His first month should get a pass. He had a major injury to recover from. Hit a low and away breaking ball out with a flick of the wrist. Mayo may have more pull side power but Basallo seems to have unusual power to all fields.

It could be Mayo instead but big pieces wise, we're nearing the point there could be a joke that the Orioles defense of having the #1 prospect could be completed by Mayo or Basallo even though Jackson Holliday is still eligible for the list.

The Ryans stand strong and list makers could see all of them side by side as Norfolk tries to defend its AAA championship.

Nationals have a couple guys who I have a feeling their life mastery of the game of baseball competitiveness will correspond with them earning about 128 at-bats late this season.    They are precisely that good.      

Futures Game is Saturday 7/13 a hair under 6 weeks away.     That highlight conjured a happy image of Juan Soto's head on Yordan Alvarez's body.    Soto's a middle of the field guy like Mountcastle, and it'll be fun to watch where Basallo ends up Pull%...I believe turn and burn flag court training basic to today's Oriole Way.

MLB.com list this morning has Kjerstad with the three younger guys all in the top 25.

Its natural right now to compare him with Spencer Jones on NYY AA Somerset.

Jones got a lot of press in spring training with a few highlights illustrating his rare human ability to do the Judge-Giancarlo things, but AA pitching is giving him a hard time overall as June opens up.

As Cashman maneuvers his big pieces, Judge, Soto, Jasson and Jones can't all be outfielders for them in 2 years.

Yea and it’s not only that he was recovering from the injury itself, he also didn’t get the ST reps in. I was never worried about him because of that.  That injury and time probably eliminated any chance he had at making the Ml roster late in the season but I would imagine he’s in AAA within a month or so and will get in 200ish PA at that level.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Soto or Judge get fitted for a first base glove very soon.
