Santander has a career track record of hitting lefties very well, and a career track record of being a good hitter.   Cowser doesn't have that.    And Santander has a history of being a slow starter who heats up as the season goes on.   So they are going to stay with him in a slump a lot longer than Cowser in a slump, especially vs LHP.

Cedric is such a good center fielder that he gets a longer leash in a slump too
