OK then help me understand... what exactly is it that @Roy Firestone does that violates OH rules and is ban worthy?

I don’t think any of it is ban worthy. But being a troll is and OOO certainly has teetered on that a few times. With that said, I guess he expects more from the great Roy Firestone. I’ve never viewed Roy as any more than a poster. I think we could all be best served to move on.

His greatest crimes are excessive capitalization and posting almost exclusively in Orioles Talk regardless of topic.

My opinion: posters spend too much time attacking or commenting on other posters.   Just deal with the substance of the posts, and if you disagree, back it up and show why you’re right.   I don’t always follow my own advice, but I try to.

Well, if you look back on prior posts that I have made to Roy?  First I always say I really like him and respect him as a person and a journalist.  I did specifically say in ONE prior post that he makes a lot of emo posts that are almost trolling in nature because of their extreme back and forth.   He can go from the Orioles are the best team ever to getting swept by the Yankees and they have no shot to win anything.

He has done this 100000000 times.   Which is fine.  I like Roy and he is very fervent and emotional about the Os.   He lives and dies with them and posts as such.

My point was if it was anyone else making those same posts?  I have a feeling the reaction would not be so......muted.

For example I made a thread last year in July or August that the Os would not win the WS, probably would not win a playoff series, and had a slight chance of missing the playoffs totally.  Very slight is what I said.  I also said that 'next year'.....as in the year we are in now, with the growth of the younger players like Cowser and Gunnar and hopefully with the addition of an ace (which we got with Burnes) the Os had a serious chance to win it all.

For making those bold predictions?  Which were all very logical?  I got crucified and almost banned on here.  Literally for that.  That specific thread.  Which in no way was anti Oriole.

So you make the call.

Still don't see anything you wrote that is a single violation of OH rules that is ban-worthy. Even you, in all of your gregarious glory, have not violated any board rules. You're as cozy as a porcupine, but you don't deserve to be banned for your contentious nature.

You don't like @Roy Firestone 's posts... don't click on them. or just scroll down.

Roy’s reverse-jinx threads have been an OH tradition for years.  To call them almost trolling is absurd.

OH wouldn’t be the same without Roy.

The biggest difference between the OH with and without Roy is that the team isn't winning when Roy is absent.

Let me make this clear.

I like Roy.

He in no way should be banned.

Not sure what else I can say.

You put into words what I was trying to convey better than I did.

He is like the O's hangout mascot.  He is so emo and trollish without trying to be trollish that it works for him.

So he’s a bandwagoner?

He’s been here since the dark days.

If you go back to 2019-2021 you will not find many posts by Roy.  Or the early part of 2022 for that matter.

He's far from the only one.

    • The Machado trade wasn't the mark of poor judgment.  We got a decent return for when we traded him (2018, with less than a year of control left).  The underlying issue was failure to recognize the timing of that team's window shutting.  2017 started off well enough, but May was punctuated by a 5-14 stretch in the last 19 games of the month (including a 7 game losing streak) and a losing June (that had a 6 game losing streak).  They then limped into the AS Break on a 3-6 July start (including another 5 game losing streak).  Went from a season best 22-10 on May 10, to 42-46 at the break. The pitching clearly couldn't keep up, and denial is a powerful thing.  We didn't do any selling or start a minor rebuild.  Whether that was a Duquette decision or an Angelos decision... who can say? I always look back at that period as having a silver lining though.  We had to crash and burn... to be built back to strength with our modern iteration of our team.  I'm not so sure that the team would have decided to take the same path if they had found additional ways of treading water for several seasons longer than they actually did... so I'm loathe to criticize the failures in the last seasons of the Duquette era.  Without them, we very well might not be where we are today.
    • Even our bad lineups have a brutal top half of the order for opposing pitchers.
    • Mullins had a good AB left on left last night that hopefully is a good sign of a turnaround. 10 pitches and fought off several fastballs that he has been swinging through. Ultimately just a groundout but I thought it was encouraging.    Liked the bunt single too.
    • Well...the "A" team hasn't been scoring runs when he pitches anyway.  Might as well shake it up a bit.
    • And it's real, so real, so real, so real, so real, so real Can you dig it Whooo-oooh I can dig it, he can dig it She can dig it, we can dig it They can dig it, you can dig it Oh, let's dig it Can you dig it, baby I can dig it, he can dig it She can dig it, we can dig it They can dig it, you can dig it Oh, let's dig it Can you dig it, baby
    • I was thinking he'll get until the AS break to show some signs of life, but it could happen by Father's Day. I'm not implying that they'll release him but that his role could decrease significantly.
