They also didn’t get in to their hotel in Houston until like 2 am EST. Yeah they are pros and don’t have to be up at 5 am, but it’s still tough. Hopefully bounce back today, as long as we split the next 2 I won’t complain.

Last night is why I believe the pitcher for the next day should arrive earlier than the team. No reason Grayson wasn't in Houston around when the O's were leaving NY so he could have been 100% on his schedule.

Big picture the 2024 Astros are an interesting case about the starting catcher being the heart of the team.

For a long time Martin Maldonado was about the worst hitting catcher and the Astros were about the best team in the league.

Cutting the cord and moving on to Yainer Diaz was like a 7 out of 10 on the applause scale of letting Robinson Chirinos go for Adley Rutschman.

And here are the Astros in a twilight zone, as Elias still has the question before him whether Adley or Gunnar's everyday offer is the one to push more looking for a special midseason moment.

Since starting 12-24, the Astros are 25-16. They had a bad April, for whatever reason. But they are no slouches, and if they can get into the postseason, they will do some damage.

They still have a lot injuries. The Orioles caught them at a bad time plus let their weaker bottom of the order hitters destroy them the last 2 days. Hoping they can salvage one tomorrow.

Offense was brutal. The fact they scored 7 runs against 2 bad pitchers when they were already down 11 does nothing. Other than that, they scored 6 runs in 26 innings. The pitching was even worse, giving up 27 runs in 24 innings. Probably the worst series they’ve had in over 2 years. Hopefully they move on and win the series against CLE.

I don't know, but I am impressed with the Astros. Either they just had a real good weekend or they are coming to life and are going to be a force for the rest of the year and into the playoffs. They sure look the better team compared to the Yankees and we didn't come close to competing with them . Captain Obvious - we need pitching and may not be able to get enough to do what we want this year. Hope this was a blip and not the start of a trend. This next week will tell.
