I'm often depicted as a whiner and worrier so I'd like to break my stereotypes on this page

Wow, I didn’t see that coming.

Like you, I’m not worried about the season.  The O’s will turn it around.  It’s just painful to live through team slumps like this.

Honestly, I’m thinking that dust-up at the end might be just the thing to snap the team out of it.  We’ll see.

I don’t think many people are worried but there are some things to monitor.

CF, backup catcher, 3-5 starters, leverage reliever.

My last thing is more of a personal worry. Ever since Gunnar wore those stupid cleats on SNB he’s been struggling. Not just at the plate but his defense has taken a hit. Last night he wore that stupid cowboy outfit to the game. Stardom is a hard thing to navigate. He went from being a relatively unknown southern boy to a mega star being pushed by MLB. I believe in the kid but staying grounded is important at the moment.

As you probably believe, superstition and "curses" are mostly made up and not really a thing. If cleats caused a slight tailspin(he's hitting .276 in the last 7 games) then he can break the "curse ", by stomping on those cleats.I'd rather he stomp on opposing pitchers. Hell he has the ability to do that barefoot.

I can envision a scenario where them hitting Heston last night and chirping from the dugout where they get some fire in their bellies and say eff them. Come back today and kick the snot out of the Yankees and then Sunday do the same and throw at one of their guys late in the Sunday game. Use that fire going into the second half. There may be a brawl coming, I just hope no one gets hurt and they use their emotions to come out strong after the AS break.

Wow, good day sunshine Roy! I've got a feeling too Roy. The season can be a long and lonely road with lots of yer blues along the way. It won't be long before we can act naturally, and get back to where we once belong so we will be getting so much better all the time.

Let's not retaliate. I enjoy a good brawl, but these MFYs will be as sanctimonious as Boston was in 2011 saying that we're going after their guys. Of course, we were far from contending back then. Fair or unfair, we will get the negative reputation around baseball for hitting their guys even if they deserve it. They'll always be able to point to Seager and Bellinger getting hurt by us. Let's just kick their butts so hard on the field that they come out sideways.

    • Not A Rod Let a couple more people guess and if no one gets it, I'll give the answer.
    • It sure seems like they’re using him now like they plan to use him at the MLB level - catching enough to be Adley’s backup but also not so frequently that he needs more rest days like a typical starting catcher. They’re catching him as much as they can while still being able to keep him in the lineup regularly.
    • Not really.  He had a better OPS after the break than before.  He hit marginally fewer homers per game, but way more doubles per game.  I would not say the derby affected him.   As to Gunnar, he’d only hit 2 homers in his last 16 games before the All Star break.
    • With Holliday seemingly locked into 2B and not having the arm to play 3B, sure seems like Estrada’s defense is the deciding factor in whether he will ultimately be a trade chip or a part of future Orioles teams. If Estrada could play 3B, he might be a nice fit as a bench infielder. If he can play a plus LF, he might hit enough to be a regular there. But if he’s really just a 2B and probably not providing enough combined offense/defense for LF, seems destined to eventually go the way of Connor Norby.
    • Yeah in every game thread if we fall behind there are fans who will declare that the game is over and start talking about it like a loss. Last night they were right.   The night before they were wrong.   But they do it every game, and it's usually the same people.   I just don't understand going through life like that, always seeing the worst in a situation.   I don't know, maybe it increases the joy for them when we do come back, and that is more important to them then being miserable when a bit of adversity hits.
    • I remember Elias signed Matt Harvey , he had great beginning with Mets before flaming out . I didn’t know about Harvey’s drug dealings but I do know he attempted comeback with the Orioles .  As for Bauer , I am same as you, not a fan of his . I also found his private issues with women kind of sordid. Yes you’re correct the law and the judges cleared him . The big question of course is ……….why has no team signed , or least approached him ?  Why hasn’t Elias contacted him ?  Perhaps the MLB told him not to ?     You asked what is the worst Bauer could do, pitching badly ?  Perhaps the Orioles/ Elias are more concerned about national public relations backlash against them signing Bauer , rather than how he would have performed
    • Zero people have said he has no flaws.  Show one comment saying that.  You are crying about gaslighting but here you are.     Go on, I’ll wait for you to show me those posts.
