Slater has been terrible against lefties this year -- a .537 OPS against lefties, more than 100 OPS points lower than against righties.  Maybe Hyde does not have access to this info.

Slater missed a juicy pitch to hit as he watched strike 2 just slowly pass him by. He could have driven that into a gap by right field.

This is where Hyde gets too robotic.  Holliday has finally had some good at-bats and Slater has been scuffling.  In the 6th inning I would have stuck with Holliday there.

Same. If Slater had been hitting well sure, but he isn't Benny Ayala back in the day versus LHP.

I hated that he benched Mullins in game 1 of the Red Sox series after Mullins had that amazing catch and was playing good. Slater did nothing in his place. You could tell Mullins was disappointed with that decision, because he spent the entire rest of the game talking to no one but Anthony Sanders.
