OK. That makes sense,. Certainly the voice is similar, not sure I hear similar inflections. To me, Joe Buck as a baseball announcer has two assets: a good voice and an accomplished father. And not in that order. -

Chemistry was my main reason for having JH here for the opening day lineup. I thought he added some extra energy boost and confidence to the team...knowing they had the #1 prospect in all of baseball on the team. So when he didn't make the team I thought it was a mistake. Turned out I was mistaken for thinking the O's mistake was a mistake. It was a mistake fest. Because I was even mistaken on how he would do in the bigs. Because while I never thought he would tear up the league or have a major impact right away playing wise like Machado did, I did think he would hold his own. Never in my wildest dreams did I think he would be as bad as he was. 18 strikeouts in 34 at bats? While he obviously didn't kill the team because they had that 7-3 record when he was here, hitting that badly had to be a huge burden and had to be killing his confidence. So sending him down was the best thing FOR HIM right now. Go down, work on that high leg kick timing, and get back into a groove. And btw I think Urias is terrible and honestly I am not sure why he is even on the team. He offers nothing. -
Nabers is a beast, great pick. I doubt they stick with Jones, but don't want to hijack the thread! Happy so far. -
Of course you’re correct, but you misunderstood. I was not crazy, not kick the cat or smash the TV or “Curse God and Die,” but was agitated because I was involved, and that emotional involvement is the main requirement for enjoying a sport in the first place, because if you don’t care, there’s no incentive to watch. In the moment, of course, nothing else matters. After the fact, you dig your toe in the dirt for a few minutes, castigate some decisions, and then you move on. It’s tomorrow, a new day, a new game. That was the point of my comment, and I’m really surprised you 100% missed it. I thought that was a good game, and if we’re going to lose, let’s lose to the sucky teams instead of the guys we’re competing with. “Sometimes you suck” and last night they did. And they probably will 20 or 30 more times this season. And I will be annoyed about those as well, and then it will be tomorrow and we will move on. It’s why we watch. -
I wonder if he feels max effort would put his arm in jeopardy and is dialing it back. If he can be effective, I don't care either way.
