He swung and missed at strike 3 but the ball hit his back foot and bounced off to the side. Because it hit him it becomes a dead ball and the runners were sent back.

Not to be a downer, but I read a while back that Jones routinely takes ground balls with the infielders. I'm not sure while it was mentioned tonight in particular but its not the first time.
