The ACC regular season race

Duke upheld its end of the bargain against Wake Forest, despite allowing Wake to whittle a 23 point deficit down to 6 with a few minutes to play. This team really seems to lose concentration at times. Still, 13-2 in league play and 8-0 on the road is nothing to sneeze at. Bring on the Heels!

They have blown a ton of big leads this year.

They stop attacking and get complacent.

It has a lot to do with the lack of a real leader on the floor.

The good news that they have done this vs weaker teams, not the better ones for the most part...and they will be playing better teams from here on out.

Now, I do worry a little bit in those first 2 rounds...I think Duke ends up a 2 seed in the NCAA tourney(lose to UNC) and the 15 seeds are better and better...if you aren't careful and allow one of these smaller schools in the game late, you could get in trouble. Same thing for round 2 but I wouldn't expect them to be blowing out the team in round 2.

The other side to this is it they are winning these games and showing something late and that is important.

Duke is better now than I thought they'd be 4-6 weeks ago. The main difference is that Rivers is more under control and has learned how to penetrate and make good decisions about when to kick out. They are still limited defensively and I don't know what has gotten into Mason Plumlee but he has been way off his game lately (Miles, on the other hand, is playing the best he ever has).

I think UNC will get its revenge this weekend because they just have too many weapons inside. Duke has a chance if they have a good night shooting 3-pointers, and no chance if they don't.

Their defense is very much improved but you are right about them being limited because of their perimeter athleticism.

They need Dawkins to stop being a giant douche and be more consistent.

What an odd season for VT. 10 of their last 14 games have been decided by 2 points or less, or in OT.

Greenberg won't have much to complain about come Selection Sunday this year, at least.

Being a VT basketball fan has got to be a huge exercise in frustration. Greenberg seems like a good coach, they usually have some talent, they always seem to play hard...yet they always seem to fall a little short of their goals.

    • Rays have not won much. They havnt been dominant.  They’ve been a solid team with a crap stadium that’s very far away from their fan base.  Located somewhere else, they’d have solid attendance.     The A’s on the other hand are a bad example for your argument.  After a dominant 70s (with titles) from 1981-1993 they were one of the most popular teams in the country and never averaged less than 11th in the league in attendance (finishing 2nd twice, 3rd twice, and 4th twice) while making it to 3 WS & winning 2.
    • Bored on account of the rain delay, plus the board needs more fun nonsense (as opposed to lame nonsense like benching players in two week slumps and whatnot).    Simple question - what’s your favorite hair amongst the 26 man roster as it stands this afternoon? Its Cionel Perez for me, but there are many contenders: Gunnar - recently shorn but still flowing  Adley - the professional flow Jorge - medium length dreads Kremer - long and curly with man bun on the regular  Burnes - classic flow Irvin - curly Burnes Kimbrel - repping the gingers, another man bun Kyle Stowers - curly blond locks (an underrated choice IMO) We’ve got great flow in AAA too - Jackson, Heston, Vespi would all be contenders if they were in the majors.  Shoutout to Big Mike, who certainly would be on this list if it were made yesterday.  Important point: beards are not lettuce. Facial hair could be a separate category. Facial hair could be a tie breaker here if you’re so inclined though.    Who’s your fav?
    • ??? I think you lost me on that one. The Detroit Lions hosted the NFL draft last month and broke the record for attendance.  Can, I think you and I are on the same side of the coin when it comes to the importance of retaining great/superstar/franchise players. For whatever reason @emmett16 seems to be opposed to it. I remember one post he had about Elias/Sig possibly being able to use AI in order to figure out some sort of star profile for 15/16 year olds so that they could continue to replicate and replace the Hendersons/Rutschmans/Hollidays/etc.
    • You still alive, Frobby?

    • Well, I wasn’t too disappointed when we ended our garage sale early, but now I am. could still be selling furniture and old Zippos.
    • If what you guys say is true, we've go a few hours to get other stuff done.  I can't remember when we've ever had this much rain in Baltimore in the month of May.
