But that's where a lot of your disconnect is.

You are correct, there have been some crazy arguments over nothing. But that is mostly because there are passionate fans here who like talking baseball. I think you brought up in another thread about how the Eveland trade thread went for like 25 pages or something. But did you read the thread? I'd say the majority of the comments were against it. It wasn't people gushing over signing Dana Eveland.

Picking up Willis is a flyer, plain and simple, to see if Peterson et al. can fix what others couldn't. It costs almost nothing to find out, so why not?

I don't think anyone's complaining, exactly. I think a lot of people are just pointing out the obvious, which is that he's pretty much toast. There's nothing to complain about here at all. It's just that he's minor league filler at this point and the chances of him contributing anything positive at the ML level are zippy.

He's a guy you root for, though, no doubt. And if he can't pitch anymore, he could pull a Loewen and do something with the bat, perhaps.
