Sat 92-93 on his FB in the first three. Getting swings and misses. Mixing in a change and a SL. No (big) curves yet. Really appears to be working on staying down and away.

Did he drop off after that or were you just not watching so not able to say? I'm curious because Tillman at 92-93 sounds pretty promising; we saw what a pretty similar guy in build and secondary stuff could do at 92-93 on Sat. night.

Watching it now. Hard to know - he looked like he got stronger. He had a K in the 6th that the radio guy called at 91MPH, but that may be the floor, velo-wise (or he could have been sitting at 91). He started mixing in his curve as the game went on. Very strong start. Nothing hit hard off of him all game.*

His 8th K came on a 94MPH FB, apparently.

I saw him throw 94 in the sixth.

I have trouble telling his FBs apart. Neither move particularly much. But his location has been good.

And thats the key. As we've seen with the guys in the rotation now if they aren't locating they aren't having success. I really hope he gets his shot before we make a move on a costly vet like Garza or somebody like Dempster who's stuff might not translate to the AL east. I don't think there's a doubt his stuff is better than Hunter's.

Four out of five good (I wouldn't read too much into the rain start). His pitch efficiency has, overall, been okay. He only had 88 pitches through 6IP.

I've watched more Tillman this year than usual - I think he warrants a shot, but I really need to see how his stuff plays against better hitters.

I think Tillman's next start needs to be on the big stage. The team needs a starter, and if Tillman isn't the guy, they will then need to get serious about trading for one. Tillman may be the answer to the question, or he may not be. but I would give him the chance first, and go from there. it would just be huge for Tillman to come on and pitch well for the Orioles right now. That would be the icing on the cake IMO.

When would he pitch? He can't pitch for Hunter in this series. Going to hold him out until next week?

I don't see the rush to get Tillman to the majors. The last thing we want is for him to come up and then have to send him back down. I need to see more evidence that he has mastered and dominated AAA.

If Tillman can come up and finally show some consistency that would be great but they better not be counting on him to shore up the rotation.

I would tend to doubt it. They have seen Tillman dominate AAA, at a much younger age than he is now. The problem has been the success hasn't translated over to the ML's. He's still young, so we shall see.
