The Birds of Camden Yards vs. the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Baja California - 10pm/420

You don't have to slide head first to dodge a tag. Also, guys slide head first all the time, it doesn't normally give concussions. B-Rob probably got concussed on the slide only because he hit himself in the head 10,000 times with his bat.

I think the "don't slide into first" thing isn't about concussions or whatever, it's about people saying since you can run through first base it's not really worth it. But in these cases Pujols couldn't make the force play and a slide could have evaded the tag.

Point being...it's not worth increasing one's risk of injury to avoid one out in one game during a 162 game season.

Kirby can see it, and he should be yelling at them to slide.

Are you kidding? They are taught to run through the base. There is zero time for the 1b coach to yell slide. And, even if they tried it, it would probably lead to injuries.

Seriously ??? At that last split-second Kirby is supposed to scream at Nick, and then Nick is supposed immediately twist his body at the last second without twisting his ankle, or wrenching his ribcage? I don't think so, Criss.

The only way you can slide is if the throw gets there well ahead of time, if it is bang-bang you don't have time anyway.
