Tommy Hunter AGAIN!

The problem with removing Hunter is a switch in roles... if you move Britton to the closer spot, then you have to find someone to take his spot in the 8th as the LHSUM. Is Patton that guy? Who really knows. It would be great if he was, but the O's will probably give him away for a no-hit defensive catcher. Do the Orioles have another option to fill Britton's role if he is moved to the closer role? That is the question. Hunter has been very lucky and it looks like that luck is quickly running out.

/goes to see if Britton is available in fantasy leagues

Matusz seemed to have regained some zip on his fastball his last time out. Anyway, Britton has been effective against lefties and righties so why pigeonhole him as LHSUM?

Okay... but you need someone from each side for setting up. The O's have that now with O'Day and Britton. If Britton moves up, you have to hope Patton moves into Britton's role. If O'Day moves up, you move Webb to O'Day's role and won't lose the LHSUM.

Just going by what side he pitches, not on split stats. Move Matusz up then to LHSUM and Britton to close. I would try it for a week and see what results warrant.

I could go on about the offense not scoring enough runs and wasting opportunities, which would be true, and the Orioles could still come back and win this game. However, there really was no reason to bring Hunter into the game given he's pitched in three of the last four games, and it took Britton 10 pitches to get through one inning while throwing eight strikes. Seriously, what would have been the harm with allowing Britton to come back out for the 9th? If he allows a man on, then you go to Hunter, and maybe he still blows it but it still goes with the hot reliever whose getting everybody out. A simply dumbfounding move by Buck, and if the O's lose this game, he deserves the blame, and tons of it.

How is it possible we can have a Jim Johnson clone on this staff with the last name Hunter saving for us? When Buck starts pacing in the dugout and Wallace sits there watching TH like he is watching burglars rob his house you know a change is coming. This has got to end and now. Over 26000 fans could have gone home with a win in the 9th along with the players who could use a good nights sleep as they prepare for tomorrows afternoon game. No they have to sit through a rain delay. It's not Hunters fault. He didn't really ask for the closer job. When JJ was traded reporters started asking who would replace him. Several of our relievers were called by reporters and radio guys and asked if they wanted to be the closer. What did anyone expect Hunter to say when asked the question? No......I don't want to be closer. I'm a wimp. Naturally he said he'd liked to be closer and because he throws 95 mph heat. He can't handle the pressure. Make the change.
