I think you are right, they probably thought his power potential was closer to 30 HRs. But now he has been playing for 3 years and has 23 HRs in 888 ABs. So they may simply have been wrong in their assessment of his potential.

However, I don't want to speak definitively on this point. He is still young and my current guess could change a lot depending how he does this year.

I think power is something that usually takes a little longer to develop for most guys. Hopefully that's the case for Snyder. It would be nice to see him at around 25 HR's consistently, not just for a year or two in his prime. He might hit for a high average and have good doubles power though, which would also be nice.
