Terry Doyle. The name sounds like an actor's understudy, or a club fighter that got knocked out by Joe Louis or Rocky Marciano early in his career.

You're probably thinking of the tragic fate of Jimmy Doyle, who was killed in a welterweight world title fight with Sugar Ray Robinson in 1947 (late in Joe Louis' reign in the heavyweight division.)

Miguel is a good starter. But his 170 pound frame is not built to pitch every 5th day into August. He wears down. General tiredness.

The O's need to option him for 10 days and let him rest. He will come back strong and help the O's in September in the rotation. He has an option left but the O's will not burn it if they only send him down for 10 days.

Miranda, Jones, Doyle? I don't know who is better but the O's need to make a move for the team's sake and for Miggy's.

I would try this. His ERA is a full run lower on 5+ days of rest for his career. I'm not sure the extra rest will help him, but I'm not ready to write him off yet. Right now his FB seems lacking. I know his velocity is the same, but no late life, or whatever you want to call it. And when I've watched recently, the splitter's not there.

He needs to pull it together, come back, and act like it's 2012. It's worth a shot.

Someone left handed. I guess Randy Wolf is gone. But someone.

Or

Orioles

The Orioles have been solid in August, making the playoff push many thought possible.

But in spite of its presence in the thick of the postseason race, Baltimore could use some pitching reinforcement. The club's starting staff is entrenched in the bottom third of clubs in terms of starter ERA, and its rotation members rarely pitch deep into games.

Playing in a competitive American League East division that could have three playoff teams, the O's will have a tough schedule down the stretch. With a decent amount of salary coming off the books this offseason, the club could go out and grab James Shields -- a pricey workhorse -- from San Diego, or possibly Matt Garza or Kyle Lohse from Milwaukee. All three players have extensive postseason experience.

He will remain in the rotation until he isn't.
