Hi gang!!! Just wanted to pass along some information. It looks as things with Roberts are finally coming to a end. According to my information, we have received final offers from two teams, Cleveland and Chicago. AM and his staff are reviewing each offer and willl be attempting to make a decision in the near future. The good part is that each team has a fair offer on the table, so either deal would benefit the O's. Now it is also of my understanding that we could decide to decline both offers and just hold onto Roberts for now. Either way the club has kept Roberts in the loop and have promised him that a decision will be made quickly. On a side note---- We are now looking at inquiring another vet pitcher to add to the rotation.

Oh uh, here comes a 40 page thread.

Thanks for news Belkast.

Will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Thanks Belkast!

Good news about Roberts, IMO. I'm glad it's going to be over and done with.

On the vet pitcher comment - I'm not too happy about that. I'd rather see the young kids battle it out and let the winner get some quality ML innings.

You think if they get Gallagher than the vet pitcher goes out the window?

Just read that the O's are interested in Kyle Lohse if they can get him at a major discount. Perhaps that's the target. That's fine by me.

As for BRob, I hope they are just picking between the 2 offers.

Any thoughts on what the Indians offer would be?

Thanks as always for the info Belkast!

But another vet Pitcher??? Trachsel makes sense, but now another one????

Trachsel doesn't make any sense, and getting someone just like him would be even less sense. They want to rebuild, yet intend to eat up innings with worthless has beens like Steve Trachsel and whoever else is to their liking.

I would imagine it would. Or, I should say, I hope it would. From all I've heard, the O's are high on Gallagher and that he would start if he was traded here. If he's traded here I have to believe he's the #5 pitcher this year.

They want the young pitchers to earn the spots in the major league rotation. It is something we havent had in forever. Players forcing their way on to the roster.

Link?

It was rumored before that they were offering a package led by Adam Miller. I've also heard Peralta's name thrown around. Miller and Peralta maybe? Even though I can't believe the Indians would give up that much. It seems like a lot but we'll have to see. Also, based on the Bedard and Tejada deals, I wouldn't be surprised, to see Peralta and then 2-3 prospects (Laffey, Huff, etc.) coming back.

    • 1:2 is good.  Elite is a player like Arraez who is 1+:1.

    • Was reading Wiggins write up on ESPN. He appears to be more of a home run threat than Koolaid. He had a pick 6 each of the last 2 years.
    • Starting point has changed.  Given the fact he has approx 1/7th of his season in the books at 1.139, to OPS just .780 for the season, he'd have to drop off to under .730 the rest of the way.  That sort of drop off wouldn't be acceptable to me. I'd like him to OPS .800 the rest of the way for roughly .850 for the season.  The more they use him in a platoon role, the better I think that number might be.
    • Can I ask how you timed it vs the DVR?  Did you use a stopwatch or count click with pause/FF, or something else?
    • I can’t fathom why anyone would want a Tanner Scott return. In 10 innings, he is 0-4 with a 1.78 whip. He was maddening before, and now he’s older. But I wonder if the Red Sox would part with Justin Slaten? He’s been pretty outstanding. Yeah, only 8 innings, but we hired Yohan Ramirez, and he’s been a catastrophe in 10. Yes, I know he’s a rule 5, and the Bosox are in the East. And their pitching is pretty thin, too. But they know they aren’t going anywhere in this division, and they might think getting a good return for a Free Rule 5 guy might be worthwhile.
    • This draft unfolded weirdly.  First with the *nix guys getting taken early and then how no defensive players got taken all draft, and then a bunch of teams reaching for OTs.  I'm pretty happy with how the draft unfolded because I think we got a player that I expected to be gone by the teens or early 20s.  I don't know what we're doing with our OL but hopefully we can maybe trade up from 62 to pick someone up.
