Good start. Nobody was catching that ball

It is still an example of bad process.

Assuming Parades doesn't make the team Alvarez is the worst defensive player on the team.

As such if he is in the game it should be at DH.

I think this is overly simplistic. Part of the process is creating an environment where everyone is engaged and happy and in the best position to be successful. If that means we don't put our best defensive team on the field every single day, sometimes you have to live with that. Let's say Alvarez turns out to be one of those guys who just doesn't hit as well when he is DHing as he does when he's in the field -- then you have to take that into consideration. You also need to consider that Alvarez is likely to work harder on his defense if he thinks he is going to see some action in the field, and you do want him prepared in case of injury and the like.

For me, the correct process is for Buck to give Alvarez plenty of playing time in the field in spring training, but also use him as DH, and get a sense of how bad his defense is and whether playing DH impacts his offense. Then once the season starts, play your best defensive alignment most of the time, see how Alvarez handles the DH role, and adjust one way or the other as the season progresses.

I have complete faith in Buck's ability to handle these types of issues.

I agree. This is ST, and when you do things like this, so you have versatility. Maybe, you lose the DH for the last 2 innings, and you need to move some people around, to keep your best bats in the game.

Just because he's a poor defender doesn't mean he can't use a glove. Jeez.

Frankly I don't care if they are happy and they are paid a great deal of money to remain engaged.

Alvarez is on a one year make good contract. He shouldn't need more incentive than that.

0 for 4 with 4 k's, get comfortable watching that. :)

He had a bad game.

Why are you happy about that?

For a person who proclaims that the Orioles are their favorite team, you have a hell of a way of showing it.

You antagonize them constantly, and you do it with glee.

Not happy, it's sarcasm.

The dude strikes out a lot, just the way it is.

No glee, just different kind of player.

If that upsets you, put me on ignore. Not sure what to say tough guy.
