Crazy stupid idea here, but why not have two home plate umps? One who looks onwards from the side and indicates to the main ump behind the plate if its in the vertical zone? I feel that the ump is at a big disadvantage to see if the ball is high or low. (By the way, I have never umpired before! Haha. So I have no clue what the ump sees back there)
