I say let's start him!  Given what I would expect from him at this age, he could probably bat 1st and 4th on our team.  Probably get some butts in the seats as well.

I'm willing to bet he wouldn't be the worst hitter on the team over the rest of the season.

I bet he'd perform better than Davis.  Not in the field, but at the plate.

Can you use the DH for a position other than the pitcher?  Keep Davis in the field, let someone else hit for him?

Yes, I am saying our pitchers might hit better than Davis.

So our batting lineup would be something like (in no particular order): Palmeiro, Schoop, Jones, Cashner, Machado, Santandah, Joseph, Mancini, Alvarez

On the field would be: Cashner P, Davis 1B, Schoop 2B, Alvarez 3B, Machado SS, Joseph C, Mancini LF, Jones CF, Santandah RF

Sort of a blend of NL and AL ball. Palmeiro would be the DH and Davis would be the Dedicated Fielder (DF). If somehow the rules let us do that (they won't), we should sign some retooled NL pitchers with decent BA or walk numbers. I miss Gallardo already.
