This isn't the best thread for it but you guys mentioned it... What does everyone think of Gaston? Not as the scraps of the Gausman deal but just as a prospect. Does he have any comps?

He's so young and raw I'm not sure a comp would do any good.

Right now he's Daniel Cabrera.  He throws very hard but doesn't have good command or even control and doesn't at this point have much in the way of other pitches.  (From what I have heard)

If true he did real well for himself in getting 2.6M after the Marlins pulled their 2M offer.

If your choice is overpay or get nothing, you overpay. Plus the rays evaluate talent better.

There comes a point where you don't overpay.

Hard to tell where that point is but it does exist.

I'm not claiming anything is a done deal, I'm just discussing what was reported.

Rays also better a developing pitchers, that has to be a factor if Gaston chose the Rays.

Yeah they should save their slots for next year..

Really no difference between 2 and 2.6 million.  If he produces at all in majors it was worth either figure. If he doesn't make majors either amount is overpay.  But a certain point you have to sign somebody.

I hate the Orioles right now.  Loved them before, probably will love them in the future but right now I'm just full of disgust, hate and contempt towards them.

I’ve only seen the tweet and one Spanish language article (Here). I should offer the caveat that I do not speak Spanish, not do I know the quality of the two sources!
