Shepherd is now called up and I would think over the next 20 days we will find out what the O's did to help him have such a good month of August.   That should be interesting and may tell us something about the O's player development.

Not every momentary improvement is the result of something the team did to help the player.    Sometimes it’s something the player did to help himself.    Sometimes it’s just a blip of effectiveness and the player reverts after a few weeks.   In any event, I look forward to seeing if Shepherd’s recent run carries over while he’s on the O’s.

While Shepherd's minor league stats are nothing special,  he first pitched to the Tides on May 31.    All of a sudden on August 1st he began to have better result.  I have not heard anyone explain why.  That is what is intriguing about Shepherd.   Who helped him get better and what improvement did he make?

Also will the long layoff effect him?  He has not pitch in a game since Sept 7th when he pitched 3 innings.   He has been available since the 11th but has not entered a game.
