Elias: Pitchers are more ahead of batters analytically, pitching program has been developed over the last 4-5 years and brought it here. There's a lot of information out there on hitting but still an area with a lot to learn. The pitchers want to get better and are taking to it well, thinks we have a lot of internal pitching.

Cesar Valdez in.  This guy isn't in camp with the Os yet this is the 3rd game he has pitched in.  He is 34 years old,has 5 Ks in 2.1 innings for the Os.  We got him out of the Mexican league.

Of course Earl won 109 and 108 his first two FULL seasons.  But he took over at the All Star Break in 1968 so I guess 68 counts as his first season.  

I'll take Earl over Boone any day.

Iglesias hits one into the LF corner, gets greedy and tries to stretch it into a double, Juan Soto makes a great pickup and throw and nails him at 2nd.  Single, out 7-4.

Rio smashes a double off the CF wall and that's it for Scherzer.

Yes, really.  CF Michael A Taylor tried a diving catch and couldn't get it and it rolled all the way to the wall.
