John Rhodes 2022

My pick to click this year. Looks like he has a quick bat and good athlete. In the Kyle Stowers mold. Starting off right at Aberdeen. 3-4 with a double and walk.

He’s definitely a guy who hasn’t gotten a ton of buzz yet but could shoot up the list quickly if things click for him.

He is an exciting talent, absolutely. He did not look overmatched in Spring Training with the big club. I do wonder about his durability. He had a back injury that prohibits him from catching. I am curious how that affects him over 130 games.

They really liked him this spring considering all the PAs he got in the big league spring training. I'm looking forward to seeing him more this year.

I think this is an excellent pick to click. I'm obviously hopeful on a lot of guys, but of the guys that are somewhat down the prospect lists, Rhodes seems to have one of the best upside profiles. The other guy was Ortiz, but he's kind of all over various lists, so I'm not sure he qualifies. Haskin is the third for me, but I'm not sure I have a lot of credibility on picking him after he hits 3 dingers in a game.

So far tonight, he’s 1-2 with 2 BB and 3 runs scored. On the season he’s hitting .370 with a 1.033 OPS in 33 PA. 

6 BB and 4 K on the season. 

Also, apparently he played 2B a few days ago. Not sure if that was an emergency situation or what.

Toolsy guy that left a “year early”. The slow start to his pro career last year shouldn’t turn people off from this dude.

Not much talk in here about Rhodes. He has been my dark horse candidate to make a major league roster since 2020.  He's off to a great start offensively this year.  What are his limitations that keep him from being promoted?  Does he have enough arm to stay in right field?

Well, Rhodes is doing everything you'd want and he's even got 2 assists in the outfield.    The greedy part of me wants to see some home runs.
