It's Mountcastle for me. I know people are down on him but trust me, you're going to be begging for him once you're watching O'Hearn/Cordero play every day. We take Mounty for granted a little bit.

I considered him instead of Mullins, but think Westburg, Santander, Stowers, etc. can fill-in at 1B to some degree better than O'Hearn/Cordero.  1B and CF are both thin.

Probably true, but we could play Gunnar at 1B and Urias at 3B.  It probably is Mullins.

Mullins is a big one for sure, but I feel like we could cobble together something with Stowers and McKenna playing more. Mostly just wanted to shout out Mounty.

That said, the lack of CF depth is much LESS excusable than a lack of 1B. McKenna and Cameron being 2 and 3 on the depth chart is kind of wild. I know Cowser is coming, but...

Career OPS+

Adley- 128

Mountcastle- 112

Urias- 109

Mullins- 109

Santander- 104

Hays- 104

Last Season:

Santander 33 HR, .455 SLG, 117 OPS+

Adley:  13 HR, .445 SLG, 128 OPS+

Mountcastle:  22 HR, .423 SLG, 105 OPS+

Hays:  16 HR, .413 SLG, 103 OPS+

Mullins:  16 HR, .403 SLG, 104 OPS+

Urias:  16 HR, .414 SLG, 103 OPS+

Gunnar:  4 HR, .440 SLG, 123 OPS+ in a small sample

I stand by what I said before.  Santander is the most dangerous proven middle of the order hitter in the Orioles' lineup.   There would be a big hole in the lineup if he were to go down with a serious injury.

So you think one season's worth of data proves performance more than career numbers do?

I don't agree.

I’m on your side.   I don’t think many Orioles players have “proven” anything much, frankly.   The error bars on predicting each player’s 2023 performance are pretty high.   Honestly Adley is about the only player who I’m confident will have an OPS+ of 110 or higher, though I certainly expect that somebody else will.  Could be anyone on your list.

If this is true, our team is far less talented than anyone wants to admit.
