No Hicks. Solid lineup.

Well I guess this is where the rubber hits the road when it comes to playing the hot hands (Hicks, Mateo) vs. platoon / past record (O'Hearn, Frazier). Hicks' slash line vs. Eovaldi is only .174/.208/.174/.382 (4 for 23, 7 Ks, only 1 BB), while Frazier is a LHB with one HR in 3 ABs vs. him. O'Hearn and Frazier are LHB and play despite Eovaldi's very well established reverse-split, esp. this year: OPS-against by RHB is .762, by LHB is only .579.

That said, if we get into the Rangers' 'pen there will be opps to bat Mateo vs. LH reliever and it keeps him available as a pinchrunner in a tight game. Hicks can pinchhit vs. either LHP or RHP.

I guess Mullins' defense is too valuable with this potentially being a season ending game. I would have DHed Hicks given the game he had on Sunday. I have no confidence in O'Hearn right now.

Reverse jinx

Mullins - O'Hearn - Frazier go 0-11 with 7 Ks.

Hicks, but not Mateo despite his also having a hot game? Not disagreeing, just sounding out your rationale. Hicks has an atypical career history vs. Eovaldi: only 1 walk and 7 Ks, with no XBH among his 4 hits in 24 PAs.

Not sure how you can sit him with the series he has had thus far. Feels like a force to make sure OHearn gets in there.

I’m guessing he may use Hicks in a certain PH spot or replacing O’Hearn. O’Hearn has been better than numbers show lately.

Well here’s to Mullins getting out of slump. He has hit 200 with a 600 OPS since the ASB. He does perform much better on the road with a 785 OPS. Would have preferred Hicks to Hays.

My Lineup would have been

Henderson SS

Adley C

Santander RF

Ohearn 1B

Hicks LF

Kjerstad DH

Westburg 2B

Mullins CF

Urias 3B

I'm not starting Mateo ever, much less a must win game. We know he's a scrub. No need to keep proving it.
