Can't blame it all on McKenna .That was an all around mental breakdown. My friend is a scout and he has noticed the lack of hustle, sloppy outfield play.Maybe yesterday was a wake up call. A few Orioles don't run  hard to first like many teams.

The run hard to first base thing...doesn't bother me much.

If you hit a routine ground ball to short I'm not ripping you a new one for not going 100% to first if it isn't a high leverage situation.

Now if it's the eight inning and the team is down a run...yea you need to go hard.

Did you notice a lot of mental errors last year?  I didn’t.  I thought on the whole the team played very heads up baseball.

This year has been different and I truly hope Hyde is addressing this behind the scenes.

Sometimes everyone gets a little too comfortable. Hyde plays vets, and after his first season, doesn't tell it like it is anymore to the media. He's learned how to keep a job by following orders and not rocking the boat.

Then again, a lot of managers are like that nowadays. Everyone wants to be everyone's buddy and the big Hyder is no exception. Meanwhile his team is making mental lapses after mental lapses. If he is working it behind the scenes, it sure doesn't seem to have an effect on the field.

It's like with crime in cities. When there is no accountability, things are not going to get better. Now, I'm not in the lockeroom and I'm just going by what I see on the field, and the amount of clownshow plays being made and the same guys are in the lineup tells me that accountability is not paramount. Then again, Hyde may not have that option to bench a guy because he's implementing the computer lineup.

Don't rock the boat is Hyde's mantra. I can't say that I blame him really.

Elias is pretty cold blooded about making changes.   He doesn't have to be anyone's buddy.    I would not be surprised if he is scanning the waiver wire while looking for a cheap AAA centerfield types that hits lefties.   McKenna does not have to be DFA'd.  He has options that can send him back to Britton.

He had Jack Cave for a while this off season.

Anyone else find it absolutely hysterical, that SG, the guy who has never seen a trade he didn't like or a player that he felt wasn't absolutely replaceable, is defending the one guy on the team who's 100% replaceable?

The fact that he's self aware in his defense of McKenna is what puts this over the top for me.  Well done, SG, well done.

I wasn’t going to be the one to point it out because I didn’t feel like getting into a back and forth with the dude. But yes. Yes, I do.

Someone would have to be DFA'd since the 40-man is full.

I agree SG, it is a SSS, but I think that makes it worse. He's made 3 mental/lazy errors in 12 games. Either a veteran/coach needs to pull him aside and tell him to focus or he should be demoted/released.

He just likes arguing no matter the point.

The knee jerk stupidity is annoying.

    • If Mateo can OPS .700, he’d probably be a top 3-5 2nd basemen in the AL the rest of his contract. WAR wise. His range and arm strength is incredible there.  Just a coincidence that Brian Roberts was calling this game and Roberts career was ruined from concussions. Self inflicted. I hope Jorge is ok. I’m sure Mullins feels terrible.
    • Baker’s ERA is down to 7.58 at Norfolk.
    • Krook posted great stats in May. Being left handed, I doubt they see him as a 1 for 1 replacement for Vieira. A possible call up for Akin, to give him a light load and rest for 10 days, maybe. But I don't think they'd want to lose Akin for 10 games.
    • A couple thoughts…. Jorge Lopez’s son has some serious issues and is on a transplant list. This is why he went on the IL in Minnesota for mental health reasons.  It’s hard to blame Hyde for any bullpen decisions considering the pen 10.1 IP scoreless the over Friday and Saturday.  The last spot of the pen needs to be used with this team. I prefer the Norfolk Shuttle nightly versus even my boy Jorge Lopez. Krook, Baker, etc… are not projects.
    • Norby deserves a shot though. Plus the lineup is already fairly balanced between right and left, no need to go out of your way to insure a left handed hitting 2B.
    • Again, I'm don't know everything about him, and I appreciate that Elias and the Orioles know him much better than I do, but I do have some concerns that whatever he's going through may make his performance volatile.  Is he better than Viera (who I just don't understand why the Orioles are eating a roster spot for), sure, but the Orioles are big on their clubhouse atmosphere and if Lopez is not a fit for whatever reason, I'm ok with them passing on him. If they think it's not an issue, then I'm ok with them bringing him on. Either way, they can't keep going into series down a reliever as long as Viera can only pitch in mop up roles.
