Different regime, personnel and pretty much no one left from that era. Blank slate.

I think the ones we’ll really end up regretting are Chapman and especially Sewald. Truly elite relievers who could have slotted in front of Felix and shut games down — and neither went for a particularly uncomfortable prospect price tag. 

It’s been pretty clear for weeks that the rental SP market was going to be much more quantity than quality, mostly guys akin to what we already have. But a high-end relief arm that would have been a massive upgrade by pushing everyone else down a slot in the pecking order? That was out there. And it seems like they’re going to miss. Hopefully they find another arm to jump on before tomorrow evening.

I think he’s likely a very good high leverage reliever eventually, but I’d include him if it got the deal done.

They need a bullpen arm along with a starter. Doubt they get both with how slow Elias moves. Most likely won't get either and we will get an infielder who hits .168
