I respect that we have different expectations.

I believed that the extreme tanking that we did was done in order to amass a trove of assets designed to make multiple WS runs similar to the Astros. (The place Elias/Sig came from.)

Maybe I was right? Maybe I was wrong? Time will tell.

I think you are right. I think most of us expect multiple runs at the WS. Time will tell if this stage is successful.

Interesting.  I thought McKenna had a good shot after the previous cuts.  But I’ve been wrong a lot this spring.

It will be interesting to see if McKenna passes through waivers.

I guess they think they will be able to slip McKenna thru waivers.

Just not a fan of some of these moves the last few days.

I'd be surprised if someone didn't claim him. He's  not that awful.

He’s pretty bad.  His defense has made His value very slightly above replacement level.  His bat is 26% worse than league average.  I’ll be surprised if he gets claimed.

Nevin makes the most sense DH’ing against the Angels slew of left handers. He had great success against LHP in the spring. I’m more curious which relievers make it.

Good point. I hadn't considered that. But we still don't know the full official 26 man roster yet. I thought with the other cuts/reassignments they might be keeping McKenna but they didn't. So we will see if Nevin is really on the final roster.

That's what happens when you become a top team. People claim your cuts. We used to do it alot.

Folks claimed the O's cuts when they were losing 100 games.

Teams churn the waiver wire.

It isn't something that only happens to top teams.

Are you just saying that because you think Oakland is bad or do you think they have an actual need for a backup outfielder with issues with staying focused?

Both

    • I have two tickets to Game 1 of the WC which I cannot use due to work travel.  Section 352, row 4, seats 9 & 10.  Asking $70 total for the two.  Paid $205 to the Orioles as a season plan member.   PM me if interested.  Paypal preferred.
    • Can't make game 1. I'll be at game 2...last time I was at a playoff game at Camden, we beat Scherzer and the Tigers.
    • He should be taking fly balls all winter.
    • That was a lot of fun. Felt like there are certain elite seasons that had to be part of the team, and then tried to build from there.  Outfield depth is a little shaky, as is the rotation — though the latter is probably mostly unavoidable. The lineup would rake and the bullpen would shove, so pretty happy with this combination.   C 2022 Adley Rutschman (5.4 rWAR) 1B: 1998 Rafael Palmeiro (6.3) 2B: 2005 Brian Roberts (7.3) 3B: 2015 Manny Machado (7.5) SS: 2024 Gunnar Henderson (8.9) LF: 1999 Brady Anderson (5.9) CF: 2021 Cedric Mullins (5.9) RF: 2008 Nick Markakis (7.4) DH: 2013 Chris Davis (7.1) Bench: 2003 Melvin Mora (4.7) Bench: 2006 Miguel Tejada (4.5) Bench: 2011 Matt Wieters (5.2) Bench: 2001 Jeff Conine (2.9)   SP: 2000 Mike Mussina (5.7) SP: 2007 Erik Bedard (5.7) SP: 2019 John Means (4.4) SP: 2002 Rodrigo Lopez (3.7) SP: 2010 Jeremy Guthrie (4.5) RP: 2016 Zach Britton (4.1) RP: 2023 Felix Bautista (3.0) RP: 2004 B.J. • Gray started off well  but then ran out of steam a bit. He's not getting any younger. I was interested in him last year but I think the Cardinals overpaid and his contract only gets worse.
    • A bit. Nothing life changing, but the format seems…Cleaner.
