That's a fair point, though on the replay it appears there was time for the out if Akin could have beat the runner to the bag. So, marginal as an error, yet still kind of a subjective last straw.

Saying this as an ELITE athlete in 100 different sports that has played on an ELITE level for 100s of years?

 

I concur.  He hits, fields, and throws like someone who is a 1 out of 10 on the confidence/cocky scale.   Seems very afraid to make a mistake.  Which just causes him to......make mistakes.

I mean he’s just not ready. I said keep him up here as recently as yesterday but he’s killing us. Probably should’ve pinch hit Urias or Mateo against the LH here in the 6th.

Sad to say ,  but it’s time for him to go down and make some adjustments and come back in June.

He smacked a line drive right at Frazier today for a line drive out. Just made a sick play at 2B.

The O's are 13-7, they can be a bit more patient with him

Better ABs today.  Hit a rocket right to 2nd in his 2nd AB. I expect him to struggle against lefty relievers. Keep sending him up.

He hit it 96 mph.  That is below Gunnar’s avg exit velocity.

Actually, no, he did not have better at bats today. He hit one ball hard which would have been a 4-3 if Frazier was playing at regular depth instead of a lineout with the infield drawn in. He rolled over on a fastball he should have drove for a 4-3, struck out on 3-2 middle-middle fastball, and then walked against a AAAA left-handed reliever late in the game. 

He did make a very nice play in the field on a liner, but also did not sprint to first base on the bunt and ended up late for a bunt hit. 

I suggested waiting for May 1st before making a decision, but he may set a futility record for worse average to start a major league career from a non-pitcher by then. 

He needs to go back to AAA and reset. Bring up either Norby or Mayo.
