They’re not looking so great this season so far, but as Anthony Castrovince put it this morning, the AL Central will be pretty forgiving this year.

The purpose of this post, though, is to highlight that amazing Correa relay throw last night to nail Ohtani at the plate.

Yes, it was 92.2 mph, tied for his second fastest behind a 2022 throw that was 93.5.

Yes, it was perfect aim, allowing the catcher to place the glove directly in front of Ohtani’s foot to block the plate without obstructing his path (see the end of the video in the first tweet).

But what was remarkable was him coming all the way over from the SS position to be in line for that relay (see the Gameday video in the second tweet below).

I wonder if they’ve decided he will do this whenever he can, for the best throw possible in these situations.

Unique approach to say the least.
