Irvin claimed by Twins

I know most of you will act like this is nothing and maybe it will be but I would rather Cole be in the org than not.

That's too bad. I'm with you. I like Irvin and though he faded hard this year after a hot start, he's a good depth piece to have and capable of nice runs of success in a swingman role.

It seems as though they had some pitching that should have been on the chopping block over Irvin.

It feels like an eternity ago getting excited by news that Irvin dropped weight and developed/stole a new pitch grip from Burnes.

He gave us some good outings here and there when we were riding high. I wish him luck.

Good for him. Hope he has lots of success in Minnesota, just not against us.

Another fine roster management move by Elias. Have to save face and not release his 9+ (last 2 months) ERA closer

I liked him.  He's pitched some great games while he was here.  

And, yeah, probably goes 6 or 7 against us in the final series.

Good guy who was a good Oriole. I can think of a few other pitchers I would have rather DFA'd.

I understand keeping Kimbrel as a face-saving move. But why Smith? Is he a guy you want to use with anything on the line? Is there a belief he can be made over to help after this year?

Would have much rather kept Irvin in the system over Burch Smith or Kimbrel. I hated when they DFAd him the first time, and disliked it a second time. 

It wouldn't shock me to see Cole Irvin have a longer, effective career from here on out than Trevor Rogers, for example.

I was shocked when he wasnt claimed the first time so good news for him that he gets to continue pitching in the MLB I guess. Elias clearly only saw him as AAA depth at this point .

O's have a Irvin-like pitcher in Trevor Rogers.    But Rogers has options.
