Hyde used McKenna in a semi platoon with Mullins late last season in CF. McKenna had a 794 OPS vs lefties last season. I am not saying that will continue or that he could not be replaced but the platoon was noticeable as Mullins was not hitting left-handed pitching.
He made 8 errors in about 50 games which is terrible. He did start 6 DP’s which is quite good. It was his introduction to 1B. Maybe he stinks there or maybe he can improve.
Sure. But i don't think McKenna is much more than a pinch runner and defensive replacement player either. His bat is also too weak to see the lineup often imo. We've played him more than I'd really like based upon his production to this point. But if Mateo could be the outfield defensive replacement too that could free up the McKenna roster spot.
O’Day is 6th all time in games pitched for the Orioles, so I’d say he has a shot. The relievers in the OHOF are Dick Hall, Stu Miller, Tippy Martinez, Eddie Watt, Hoyt Wilhelm and Gregg Olson.
