Steve Johnson Today, 2013

OFFNY

Recommended Posts

57% strikes, walking the #9 hitter..giving hitters too many chances in hitter's counts. First 2 innings: money. Last 2 innings: rubbish.

He'll get better.

Yep. He wasn't ready. I think they felt he was the best option at the time. He definitely isn't 100%. His prior starts in Norfolk were lackluster.

I went to this one. He got hit HARD. But not as hard as Belfiore, who i think gave up two of Johnsons runs on a MONSTER home run

Those walks are the concerning part, not the hits.

Yea that makes me wonder if he is just having some mechanical issues or some continuing physical issue. His control seems off and that's not the norm for SJ

Yes, it is. 4.2 BB per 9 innings.

People really must think he has good command because I don't know how many times I've posted that number now.

In his last start Bordick referred to him as the "Command Meister", LOL.

The walks are too damn high.

Glad to see Johnson back, and all things considered a good outing espically against the Jays whose bats are also on fire. 5 SO in 2-2/3 is particularly note worthy; most importantly kept us in the lead to pick up Garcia's first Win as an Oriole!
