Steve Johnson Today, 2013

Nice job of keeping the game within reach for Steve.

He got a well deserved win.

I think 2 IP might be his limit out of the pen. I definitely don't want anyone seeing him a second time. That should make his deceptive FB all the better.

Stevie Boy kept us in the game, and Pearce got us back in the game. They were both somewhat overshadowed by the big (overall) comeback, including Machado's game-tying double, Davis' 2-run insurance home run, and Jimmy Johnson's return to form (at least for one night) to close out the game.

Oddly enough, Stevie-Boy struck out 5 batters in only 2.33 innings, even though his strikes-to-balls ratio was far from stellar (29 Strikes, 26 Balls.)

Not his best outing but I do feel that Johnson is coming around. He is going to struggle if his control is off which it was tonight but I think over his prior few outings he was showing signs of getting better feel for his control. Think he will continue to get better as he pitches more.

Once Stevie came in relief of a starter that threw 5 shutout innings, but this time, it wasn't Tsuyoshi Wada ...... it was Freddy Garcia.

And once again, Stevie Boy threw 3 shutout innings of his own.

He threw a lot of pitches though, and had a bad strikes-to-balls ratio (31 Strikes, 26 Balls.)

We can and WILL use Steve in about two weeks...I hope its not too late by then...

Do you think so? Steve isn't having a very good year. Injury and all. I think Hammel, Wada, Gausman and Stinson are all ahead of Steve at this point. I am not sure Steve gets a call up.

Why would he not get a call-up? He has already been up twice (three?) times this year. All 5 pitchers you listed will be up, most likely at various times depending on Norfolk's playoff chances.
